Part 2 of my thoughts on Netflix’s “Take Your Pills - Xanax” back with John. This part was the most difficult for me to watch. Especially when he describes his burning skin, I had that symptom too and it went on for 3 months for me. Came back when I had Covid in January 😔

John described feeling acutely suicidal, perhaps with akathisia, judging from his descriptions. At this moment, he realises, along with his wife, that this is benzo withdrawal.

Next we learn about the incredible Dr. Heather Ashton, who actually listened to patients and helped them taper off benzos very slowly compared to the average, poorly informed doctor. Why aren’t doctors learning about the Ashton Manual anyway?

John mentions that he saw thirty-two doctors, THIRTY FREAKING TWO doctors, and not a single one connected the dots. Now, this is where I *really* wish the producers pushed for some answers.

Why is this happening? Why is the medical community getting away with this? Why is nobody being held accountable? Why is it okay to actively harm patients like this without any consequences?

Why because it's money for the few honey and suffering for the many that's our Jam apparently is so-called man Wise Wise we are a terrible species to each other. We got to take this stuff out of their hands nobody else is going to do it there is no Deus Ex machina here.
