Truly honest question as I'm ignorant here. Please help me understand how "dark patterns" is racist? And remember, I've been asked why my horns don't show for nearly 60 years, so I'm really wanting to understand, not cause upset or argument. At all. xo
2023 is a great time to start using “anti-patterns” for IX that is used without intent and “deceptive patterns” for those patterns that are made with intent. Let’s throw out the monolithic term “dark patterns” and get in tune with inclusive terms that do not have racist (1/2)

This thread full of bad faith disingenuous comments from people going, "Oh, so I'm no longer allowed to call the night 'dark' then am I". Someone else nailed it already. Don't use dark as a metaphor for bad. It's that simple.

That's hard for me at this age I have a very dark side as so many do and is that really good thing or bad thing it's very ambiguous to me. I do appreciate the challenge I'll think more about it thank you

It's not hard though is it. Call it your wicked side, call it your bad side, call it whatever you like, but stop making excuses for using dark as a metaphor for bad.

I have no longer any interest in continuous conversation it has been very contentious and disrespectful to people that you do not know who they are or what they are just by looking at their skin or their work or contributions. Meritocracy matters. Thank you

It's not contentious, and the disrespect is pretending that you can't avoid using 'dark' as a metaphor for bad. I've no idea where you think "looking at their skin" has come into this. If you want to carry on using dark=bad, do so, but don't be surprised if you offend people.
