But a Jew is always a Jew. Nationalist, zionist, white, from Israel, religious, and suffered in eastern europe? That's pretty damned exclusionary to me.

I’d rather choose as my community the people who have been targeted in this way than those who demand the prerogative to perpetuate the usage. Plus — it costs be absolutely nothing. Nowt.

I don’t know how we got from ‘what’s problematic about using ‘dark’ in this way? Honest question’ to these questions about whether all Jews are the same, or are exclusionary. I work hard to teach students to listen to and to appreciate the variegated glories of Judaism.

Because no one is taught truth, it's ignorance not of fault of individuals but intentional (often) assimilation.
