Al Gore didn't do that. However, he invented AlGorRhythm&Blues (probably as an audio video game accompaniment). @timtfj

Darn it just when I want to have an emoji that's laughing all I have is a Twitter heart that was really funny! I guess I have to love it before I have to laugh at it though here on Twitter at least.

I've occasionally tried to persuade people that algorithms are named after him, but not really. There's a risk these days that I'd be believed.

If memory serves, one of the people on that list did, in fact, day that Gore "took the initiative in creating the internet," so at perhaps two options may be at least partially true. If this is considered a spoiler, I'll happily delete it, but I tried to be careful.

Yep! And more. Al Gore did in fact contribute greatly to the advancement of arpanet and NSFnet, funding for Mark Andreesen who at this point needs no funding and much more. Gore was definitely ahead of his time, perhaps did self promote a bit, but he did help move things forward.
