Yeah, I'm not sure how what's being described here is different from systems like Mastodon. The underlying tech might be different, but grassroots social networks have been here for a while. They're refreshing alternatives to FB/Twitter/etc—sometimes—but haven't replaced them.

Exactly and whether it's here or on onion or I do P2 or whatever there's little incentive for people to leave and that includes especially includes Facebook and Twitter for their profits are made here and wouldn't be on a locked down environment.
