It's challenging in today's web development. There is a whirlwind of so many options and so much noise the signal seems to be lost. The model of HTML CSS and JavaScript is still with us but it's obfuscated by too many choices. What thoughts do you have on a clear way forward?

if it's any comfort, this has always been the problem, the flavour of the month always has more PR froth than w3c, and adhering to standards has always been the solution

Yeah but it isn't the froth of the w3c it's about a very good ethic and some kind of unifying advocacy group or a community. we're missing an ethic and we're missing a standard for ourselves. it doesn't come from outside we have to make it happen. How do we do that?
