Psychiatric diseases are some of the diseases where the cause of the disease was inferred from the effect of the medication. For many people this medication was life saving. Use with the watering can is grossly negligent.

I'm not sure what you mean by use with the watering can? Are you suggesting that the study is grossly negligent or the overuse is grossly negligent or my post was grossly negligent or meant anything untoward about depression or SSRIs. If I were to do so it would be quite clear.

Not all depression is the same. For some people, a good psychotherapy is much better than any medication. While others become suicidal without medication.

When I was working in psychiatry (before 1996) there was a rule about endogenous pschoses: 1/3 of the affected get it once and never again 1/3 have a periodic course and 1/3 never get never rid of it. The prognosis for depression was much better. But this old information.

Replying to @AngieRadtke
I've seen this in literature from the US the UK and Australia that most designated as mental illnesses do run a course some never get better but many do on their own. What did you do in Psychiatry and did you enjoy the work?
