Sleep deprivation, stress, no one to talk things through with, hormone imbalance, the news, feeling a loss of control over your life, or that your not progressing, chemicals... There are so many factors that can contribute to depression, why would there be one solution for all.

Emma you couldn't have put it better. Absolutely. I can think of no medical condition of any variety that is caused by a singular Factor. It's all of those things and maybe more or less just depends and we're all different. All of us have a unique set of symptoms and causes.

Psychiatric diseases are some of the diseases where the cause of the disease was inferred from the effect of the medication. For many people this medication was life saving. Use with the watering can is grossly negligent.

I'm not sure what you mean by use with the watering can? Are you suggesting that the study is grossly negligent or the overuse is grossly negligent or my post was grossly negligent or meant anything untoward about depression or SSRIs. If I were to do so it would be quite clear.

We've never actually known what causes depression, and there has never been any clinical evidence for the efficacy of SSRIs. But millions of people say they work for them, so doctors keep prescribing them. This seems reasonable to me, placebo effects are part of medicine.
