No offense but if your application can still run then it's "nice to have". You can use divs everywhere and still get good SEO. Functionality, be it backend or frontend, is much more important.

May I respectfully ask what you mean by the term functionality. What about well crafted specifications and actual language which facilitate the reason the web was created like interoperability accessibility internationalisation portability and no barrier to content at all?
