Unpopular opinion: I hate design systems. Having built many of them, the consistency they create isn’t worth the effort involved in maintaining one.
Tools like @figma are very much still figuring these things out, and until they do, I won’t be using them.

With a good DS a lot of accessibility concerns are addressed by default, brand adherence is a lot easier. No wonder all design mature orgs are using DS - Uber, Google, Microsoft, Netflix etc

Are you sure which methodologies which language is which Frameworks libraries how and where is the evidence

If you get in to doc of any popular DS , you may find an a11y section at each component. Most DS are on React, and I don’t have any research evidence. But fact that most of these DS are open sourced, yet companies are still investing in it, shows it works.

I know react has accessibility features but the problem is it's usually component Centric not the whole application. There's so little value placed on it the other thing I'm concerned about is repurposing react has done very well for itself but it won't last forever

Four components especially I would say where necessary Aria but you can't use it randomly it has to be specific to the need of course there are other things as well.
