Strange history to #RSS. Apple to Netscape with some of Dave Winer's own-grown specification to a split into two indie working groups. Dave's Userland Software, and RSS-DEV (Rael Dornfest from O'Reilly, a very young Aaron Swartz, et al.) #Atom attempted to resolve this split.
I'd love to hear more. I'd always thought Atom was the better built alternative to RSS. What'd I miss?

Yep! Isn't that a wild history? It's far more complex than what I wrote in that one tweet of course - there are some good articles and Wikipedia has articles on RSS, Atom and syndication models that covers it all pretty well. :)
