I despair of a world where this question has to be asked at all I despair of a world wide web with developers who think that it's not important. Thank you so much for disregarding all the people who worked for their entire profession ensuring this question would never be asked.

Of course it isn't. The world need more web developers who think HTML forms are drag and drop objects from Microsoft with "controls" in Visual Studio! Why should old greybeards be the only ones to have endured FrontPage/DreamWeaver? #MiseryLovesCompany

Or that whole browser and compatibility issue AKA the browser Wars. I'd like to see any of these assholes argue with Bill Gates. And the absolute crimes against humanity that people allow to continue regarding accessibility. There are reasons I pluck gray hairs out of my chin. 🧙

When new web devs ask what they should learn I always respond HTML, CSS and vanilla Javascript (not libraries).

Poor education is a problem but this attitude disrespects we who write specs, fight for implementation, educate, share freely. People think the web infrastructure is irrelevant will collapse it. Hell, they already have in so many ways.
