There's no shame in forgoing social media and revisiting RSS. Let's do it.

I approve of this message. Which RSS spec shall we follow? 😈

Was quietly hoping this had been resolved while I wasn’t looking.

Ollie, has anything really ever been 'resolved' when it comes to the Web? :) Evolutionary tech is evolutionary, I've adapted by adopting an attitude of "this is never meant to be completed" and try to not get angry at how fragmented our specs are across orgs and communities.

Likely not! As much as I might enjoy the simplicity of a “winning” standard, there is a price. I very much subscribe to your analogy of the diversity of living things. As ecosystems have demonstrated, deep diversity is necessary for stability. Still, is Atom still a thing? 🤷‍♂️

Replying to @ollicle @stephenhay
Is it a thing? Yes it's a thing! it was built into many blogging platforms and therefore would ideally be backwards compatible and interoperable! Backward incompatible? Un-intetoperable? 😂 Opposite of the design principles outlined by the @w3c or by @WHATWG in early HTML5. SMH!

I'd love to hear more. I'd always thought Atom was the better built alternative to RSS. What'd I miss?

Um, yeah. I was being diplomatic and describing complex crazy surrounding syndication. In one tweet. As "annoying web standards girl" I got an earful from DW at a Mix conf in the green room with Marc right there. You might recall my virtual swear jar in WaSP if DW was brought up!
