How many coders, devs, programmmers, IT peeps, technical design folks are also musicians and/or seriously in pursuit of music lifelong? Curious to know as for more than 30 years in tech I see a lot of crossover.

Lifelong music fan, but never really played an instrument. One of my goals is to learn to play the drums at some point in 2022!

I鈥檓 planning to learn the Octaventral Hebiophone, a pleasantly futile task considering I have the wrong number of mouths.

Okay I have no idea what that is cake other than 8 of something but I might if you showed me a picture. Of all the weird-ass instruments the theremin attracts me. If only because I'm such a nerd I want to play the Star Trek theme.

Yeah the Theramin is awesome. What I previously posted is a quote from Hitchhiker鈥檚 Guide.

Hey I'm 59. 42 was a long time ago you with your Hitchhiker's Guide which I'm forgetting completely As Time Marches On might be time for a re-read. Or not it was funny none the less. Yeah theremin They Say It Ain't Easy. They say that about a lot of things.

It鈥檚 probably really easy to play but incredibly hard to make it sound nice.

That description is almost verbatim to what I've heard about the theremin which is it is not hard to actually make sounds but it's very hard to make music. That Star Trek theme was pretty catchy cuz I still have it in my head and it's been 50 years now?

There鈥檚 also that Portishead song that was huge in the early 90s. I saw them at Glastonbury, while smoking mushroom joints and watching fireworks. Proper magical that was. youtube.com/t3baifH7bhI

Smoking mushroom joints? Cake you guys do weird stuff over there. Who smokes shrooms? Grow them blue meanies from legit spores separate cap and stem dehydrate then stick them in your face then chew and that's how it's done. America's going to school you on how to be a fun guy.馃槈

PS I like Portishead. I I can't imagine they were anything less than unusual live. It's not exactly Mosh Pit music. But I can see how sitting on a cloud watching the ambience drive by might work. Smoking shrooms. Grown in manure? Stop that shit. Literally. E-coli is not friendly.

It鈥檚 nice, just a tiny sprinkle of dried cap, very mild effect just adds a little sparkle. Long time ago anyway. They were playing in a small tent that was really overcrowded and I started having a panic attack, so I sat outside watching the fireworks.

I find it interesting you had a panic attack in a small tent. A small crowd that isn't packed in a small venue isn't a problem but what became a problem was large groups of humans packed tightly together. Panic attacks hit hard especially if I can't see a way out of the crowd.
