I've never retweeted myself before and it feels odd but here we are. Anybody here ever write a user style sheet for themselves or anyone else?

Well see there was this thing in CSS called user style sheets that you could use to write your own styles that would override those provided specific to your needs. You can still do it. Why don't we know about it probably as the primary use case was largely for accessibility.

I've actually used a user style sheet as my primary ad blocking tech. Literally have basically used it since Firefox was called firebird. For a while I also used it to alert me to PDF links be appending a "[pdf]" to links too.

That rocks I love it! I wish people would publish user style if we had shared some basic ones like larger font sizes or specific contrast colors I think it would have been more conducive to their success.

Made a few edits to take out some tweaks for a few domains I wouldn't want published -- and some of these custom domain tweaks no longer do anything -- but this is what I've been using, along with NoScript to take care of ads in Firefox for years. powrsurg.com/files/userConte…

So you be honest, it started out as something a friend of mine shared back when I was getting into dev. I've added stuff since then. But it's really a great feature that people have forgotten about

I appreciate that and it's great that your friend shared it should be shared. If user style had been shared a lot we'd probably have better adoption of them and understanding of their place in the Cascade.

Yeah, he shared that & gave me some hosting to practice & I eventually turned it into a career in web dev. While I absolutely love the web, sadly these days life pulled me into the back-end & having to do a lot of AWS stuff so I haven't used some of the latest & greatest in CSS.

It happens. I'm not focusing on coding or development of any kind professionally myself rather have gone pretty meta about it all at this point with over 30 years in IT. I think we need to switch it up sometimes whether by interest or need.
