I was five years old when I came to my first political awareness I was watching Israel rain bombs on Jordan Syria and Lebanon in the 1968 Six Day War. I got very upset my five-year- old self thought Israel was a Haven for all and we kids raised money to plant trees. Heart broken.

Wait, it's one thing you did not know who started the war at 5 yrs old, but have you read any non-fiction abt who started wars with Israel since you grew up? It appears not! You still are as naive as you were at 5 yrs old! Read abt Israel's wars - I can recommend some books
