I took my degree in linguistics and I think, at least I hope, I kept those lessons in mind when I worked.

I totally agree with you. I refuse to install an app to see content. I use the browser to access content and apps to do things. All apps that are meant to access content are evil, what they want is to spot your contacts or y track your position.
