A book club in our neighborhood mostly acts as a gossip club but what surprises me is that another community club in neighborhood has some common members from the other group and this community group is seen talking about books.

Interesting no. I was asked to join a book club not long ago by a fellow who said to me the first up was British and American male academic essays from the 18s and I'm not sure you'd be able to understand the language in use. He must have believed me I told him I only read Cosmo!

Building a club or community is like joining a gym, easier to get started but challenging to govern and scale unless you are a sportsperson. :)

Perhaps for a shy person or a person not used to unisex gyms, unaware women are academics, much less my name or work on her 36 mass-market book. Telling him I only read Cosmo was my personal way of coping with an exceedingly exhausting bias I've experienced for nearly 60 years 馃槀
