Told I need to avoid taking prognoses too personally. I worst case stuff. I need self discipline and getting out of my victim thinking. I truly used to be strong,at least for a good portion of my adulthood. Something slipped along the way. I just hope I can find a way to better.

I'd also add that if you feel you're not ok emotionally most days, then having a professional to talk to might be helpful. I was so "not ok" for a while, I really couldn't see I needed help. Yet, I managed to work & get stuff done. I hope if that happens again, I'll reach out.

Thanks for the support and I empathize with you having been through similar. You are right, I do see a therapist and really like her, she's attached to my primary care group and is a great source of inspiration and encouragement. I'm glad you are doing well ☺

Well, your health is a pretty personal thing. But a prognosis is largely a statistical guess, really. As for strength, you've been using it on a lot of things.

It's especially hard right now. Seriously, we are all making it thru life as best as we can PLUS A PANDEMIC. It's ok, to not be ok (as the kids say). :-) We are human. One day, historians will look back on this time and be amazed at our resilency.

When I was sick in 2006 w/ some serious GI issues, I wish I had advocated for myself better... BUT I WAS SICK. After being released from the hospital, I let my supervisor push into coming back to work too soon. I was not ok, but played along that I was. Being sick is hard work.

IMHO While our individual doctors are great & there are many other wonderful med professionals, the health care system is designed to make money, not get people well. So, patients have to advocate, do research, etc. while healing. That's a lot. Take care <3

I'm not sure there's anything personal about health care. Most check boxes. The helpful few like Dr. Rachel Swart told me exactly what was ahead. This includes surgery. She reminded me I had defied all odds, and to keep true to set protocols. And, my despair is not helpful. 😘
