Late 90s/early 2000s when I started using computers with internet access in school, IT clubs and tech fairs. I was blown away with the amount of information and everything you could do on the web. I started coding HTML after that wow moment.

Laid off by Apple in 1995, I sojourned temporarily in their Advanced Technology Group (RIP), where someone—with no irony because it was early 1995—said that I should look into this "Mosaic thing" because it could be a big deal some day. It did, and has fed my family ever since.

I'd been looking after the PC Plus online presence on CompuServe and AOL and the CiX bulletin board and arguing that we were doing web publishing wrong; going to AOL in 1996 was a promotion to editor/publisher with the readership of a Sunday newspaper but way more production work

2002. I’d graduated from college w an English deg. My campus employer needed a site built; I told them that I’d do it if they sent me to a class to learn the fundamentals for real (I’d messed around w FrontPage in high school lol). Took a leap of faith that it was right for me!

When was WWW Conference in Santa Clara? That’s when I realized this was my next professional pivot. I had been immersed in the Net (1992?) and was convinced WWW would forever change communication/news. I was more optimistic than warranted (not a true technological optimist, tho).

2009 - working in local gov supporting a schools learning platform. Rediscovered the power of internet to do good. Taught myself how to code and went on to work for the local gov web team. Have moved on to another job since. Still in web and now looking at accessibility

1999. Newly married, and just moved overseas with no job, and plenty of time to learn HTML and image creation/manipulation. Wanted a little spot or two to show my images, and maybe write some stories.

1980 or so, when I read Ted Nelson's Dream Machines and knew I wanted to be part of building something like Xanadu. And then, just over a decade later, I found the web.

1996 when I was shown by a friend the basics of html and later css. Discovered W3C & WASP inspired by Miss Molly. Distracted by online gaming and returned to my first love a few years ago. My CSS Zen book is still my pride and joy
