Yes, I would love it if CSS could direct the interactive behavior for a click (or keyboard activation) on its own, basically creating different states that could be individually styled, all without special new markup or JS or radio button hacks.

HCI and UX as well as social and behavioral studies all show a pattern that when faced with too many options, people freeze and/or choose the option they know or are drawn to, within ~ 9 seconds. Which option is fastest? Most accessible? Most useful? How does a user find out?
