As I am forging through my book, a difficult realization hit me regarding desktop apps versus sites. I open a desktop browser and go to a site where I'm offered an app for my desktop and the site too no matter OS What advantages and disadvantages? Are such apps really the #WWW ?

Apps integrate with the operating system differently than a browser tab or window. That’s the big advantage for me.

Which leads to my thought that a web site and app are different development jobs altogether!

In theory the backend development is the same, each is just provided with a different UI for it's native environment.
