I think you're not the one missing the point in this scenario at all. I think I laughed because it was so far out of any professional expectation, I went for the least dangerous response!

Hmm. So me treating people as if they're people and not a god's gift makes them uncomfortable?! That explains a few things. They should see how I treat gods.
