Heads up to a UK audience that comes across and super super aggressive / threatening. Not sure if that’s what you intended :)

Oh wow, really? That’s culturally fascinating, as that would be as far from my original intent as I can possibly imagine.

I wondered if you’d not come across it :) It’s the same for ‘mate’. Gotta love language!

Yup. Truly is fascinating. Reminds me about 10yrs ago - I reached out to @mholzschlag, demanding sponsorship for our a11yMTL event… clueless that “demand” meant VERY DIFFERENT THINGS in FR & EN! She felt my approach was a little strong… I’m still embarrassed about that! 😝

HA! What a memory you have Denis. My turn! I DEMAND you stop being embarrased after 10 years already, my dear. :) The real questions are: Was I mean? And, did I manage to get you the money for the sponsorship? If I was mean and/or failed you? It is I who should be embarassed!

Lol, I remember you being very gracious about it... Saying something about my poor choice of words, and putting the blame on the language barrier. You were with Opera at the time, if I remember well. It didn't pan out, but you taught me the meaning of a word I never forgot! :)

I'm glad. I am language-obsessed. Words tumble out of my mouth with little filter. I know when I bite it's off-putting. We are what we are 😉 Sorry I couldn't help! Small co's often limit sponsorships to big conf's/events. It's good to laugh with good friends about our silliness!
