Yep. Serving as application/xhtml+xml would cause too much pain, I guess.

I thought last troubles with real application/xhtml+xml died with IE6? Tried in IE11 and it Works as Intended™: rendered like HTML with default UA styles, custom entities interpreted. Yes, MathML works only in Firefox, but it is known fact I think. myfonj.github.io/tst/test.xh…

backward compatibility is a design principle also remember that and we fail at that completely.
