This point makes my comments yesterday on how to neutralize ableism or any 'ism' while retaining the identity and cultures of value. Multicuturalists struggle with this all the time. It is differences in us that potentially expands us, not contracts.
The vast majority of Disabled people really prefer the word disabled. So if you’re looking for a consensus on terms you won’t get it trying to remove disabled as the main option.
