One slightly eccentric data point, at your service.

Slightly being relative ;-) What factors do you believe are impeding progress in #UX and #a11y ? Any ideas for repair moving forward? Eccentric ideas always welcome!

That #UX and #a11y can even be separated, for a start. But I'll put a more considered response together.

Clarification: Are you stating they cannot? I do not believe they are separate in Web or IRL. User experience failures are access and accessibility failures. I also worry about the "sell good #UX and #a11y as an added bonus feature" which to me simply isn't integrated.

To me, you can't discuss #UX and leave out #a11y, and vice versa. Yet I know UX people who don't think about a11y, or if they do it's an afterthought. I want to see a11y baked into web design in the same way responsiveness was - so it doesn't even need to be said any more.
