A few days ago a man was lamenting that the horror in TN was "just another day." Responder wrote "Media wants headlines." I disagreed as this is historically a passive means of assmilitation of others. He said "You are really trying hard to sound smart." I wrote "I'm not smart."

I must be way off base, because the _very first_ word that comes to mind when I see your name is, "smart." I'd like to posit that someone can be (even extremely) smart, yet burdened or struggling.

Smart as a definition simply means the existence of intelligence in argument so you're not wrong in that regard but when we quantify and qualify an imprecise methodology but patterns prevail I kind of go over the top too much ;-)

It's rare to have both in the same person but not impossible absolutely. It also depends on periods of Our Lives as well as medical or other circumstances. My mother had for the most of her life some certain types of smart but otherwise was off the hook
