Modern refers to anything within the recent past or so whereas contemporary is more specific to the Here and Now. So the wording is not wrong per se. Now brexit however? Contemporary agony, modern problem, today's bulshit, tomorrow's awful. :-(

I look at almost everything these days in the Reader mode. Remember when everything was supposed to be 'seamless' & 'frictionless'? And then the interstitials appeared. Not to make light of real health problems but even the article itself is stressful:
