1. An engineer may not injure a manager or, through inaction, allow a manager to come to harm. 2. An engineer must obey the orders given by manager except where such orders would conflict with 1. 3. An engineer must protect their own existence if it doesn't conflict with 1 or 2.
Doctors have the Hippocratic Oath. IMHO, software engineers should have something similar.

In the United States no doctor has to take the Hippocratic Oath. There are two versions the original and there's an updated one from the 60s via Tufts University in Boston. And the oath is not first do no harm. It is if you cannot make it better do not make it worse. And we do
