It took from 1996 when I first started showing Parkinson’s symptoms until July 5, 2013 to diagnosed me with Parkinson’s. Prior to that I was misdiagnosed six times. My first experience was with my PCP who said my tremor was just nerves and not to worry about it.

Several of the doctors said my resting tremor was an essential tremor (which is not a resting tremor). One doctor prescribed Klonopin which has the side effect of people falling down. The number one reason Parkinson’s patients are in the ER is from falling. I fell a lot.

Getting a doctor to listen to you is extremely difficult. My regular Parkinson’s doctor was hospitalized and most likely won’t come back. The first substitute doctor had her assistant talk to me and only asked me a couple of questions and incorrectly answer questions I had.

I piss most off because I correct them on their mistakes. I don't practice on folks, I study and read. Oh, the battle stories! Exceptions now are my oncologist and primary care. Oncologist is world class and lovely. PC uses a live scribe (telehealth recording now). Also, honest.
