Probably a mix of modesty and thinking that her children are not that interested in what she's done before we were born. Our fault for not asking either.

That makes sense I guess my mother was relentlessly demanding we pay attention to everything she did so my experience is a little different. 馃槈 She write quite a few books 7 of them published. The word "fault" when it comes from children evokes sad hearted emotions. We do grow!
