Turning focus back to #webdev, I need your help with any suggestions for a simple #blog solution. All I need is #a11y friendly form management, archives, and comments. Open source, minimal JS. I dream old school: Elegant #Perl, My own #HTML and #CSS. AKA: The real Web. Any ideas?

Django? Python and custom, your own HTML and CSS, great community support.

Thanks Mike. It's come up in the conversation and I've been wondering about the flat app concept as my only experience in the past with django has been early use in support and interest in what Simon was up to. I am going to absolutely revisit.

A headless CMS seems and probably is very different from what you are asking for but it can be hard to not step in and mention one's current toy. Sanity.io might be a tool you don't know you want, but "headless" means you pick some other tool for the rendering :)

Hi there and thanks so much. No matter what I end up choosing the truth is this journey of going through and studying a little bit more about other options is very educational and thought-provoking for me. This looks very intriguing from that POV. Much appreciated my friend! 😊

uhhh - SFTP, flat files, Gopher-style...BBEdit, Transmit, and some space in a cloud... JS? why? forms? why? post or interaction? or - nginx, vi/emacs, and a usable file-system structure...

FACE! You are one of my most influential tech mentors from the get-go, I swoon at your answer. JS we can omit here. Forms for user input and management of research data. SFTP, flat files gopher style for sho'. BBEdit and I never hit it off. Why Transmit if SFTP? Got Apache server

The @djangogirls have a tutorial (tutorial.djangogirls.org/en/) that teaches how to use Python and Django web framework to build a *blog*, with forms and DB storage.👨‍🏫I'm part way thru; excellent so far. Recommended it to my students.

It’s Python not Perl but if it needs interactivity and a database I generally start with django. Like all things there’s a learning curve but I can go from zero to website in a couple of hours. Happy to help you learn if you decided to go that way.

Oh, Dear King of Britons! Python is quirky but does fit my preferences. I have no Python experience other than study. How much Python do I need to manage and are you're suggesting django flat page app specifically? If so, I'm all ears. I have only used it before because: Simon!
