Twitter is working on a new feature to "help promote informed discussion." Intellectually I like the nudge toward us reading any articles we share and thinking deeply about them. #UX wise I strongly dislike adding yet another interstitial layer of interaction. What do you think?
Sharing an article can spark conversation, so you may want to read it before you Tweet it. To help promote informed discussion, we're testing a new prompt on Android –– when you Retweet an article that you haven't opened on Twitter, we may ask if you'd like to open it first.

While I haven't encountered this yet, I don't have a problem with the additional interaction as long as there's conditional logic to only prompt people once, as a means of awareness. Beyond that it becomes a nuisance, as ppl will RT anyway.

Of course that's the flaw in the plan as you point out. It's the old you can lead a horse to water but can't make it drink phenomenon. It's intriguing but I find it disruptive personally. It will be interesting to see how it pans out or does not! Hope you're having a great day😊
