It may be ego, but it was earned. I want my damn Wikipedia page updated as it barely touches reality and has caused questioning of credentials. My edu, WaSP work, Gates F2Fs, articles, keynotes, training, SME for higher ed courses ain't. And apparently I was awarded once in 1998.

It's a question of time and priorities. Writing a new article on Wikipedia is a lot more fun than updating the millions of existing ones. Since we're all volunteers, we do what is fun and not necessarily what is needed.

Sadly there is gender and racial bias beyond the burnout. Dori Smith is a Godmama, author, standardista. No bio. She is in a note about Web Standards Project on Wikipedia. "Zeldman, Steven Champeon, Todd Fahrner, Eric A. Meyer, Tantek 脟elik, Dori Smith, Tim Bray, Jeffrey Veen."

Of course there is bias, but that's a completely differrent topic. And I'd argue that writing a new article does more to correct the bias than updating an outdated article. Again, it boils down to my priorities as a volunteer.
