A friend and colleague passed away. Another one of our golden ones in heart and mind. My brain screams for reason "WHY?" YES I understand when we ourselves live past 50 when a density of death is inevitable. Wherever comfort is found, I hope we all find it in our times of grief馃挏

Empathy. It goes beyond understanding and even may be an emotion transcendent of love. I don't know yet.

ISTM . . . Empathy makes solid ground to stand on. It's where connection is so we're not alone, and the connection creates strength and solidity. Is that what you're describing?

All those words fit the general idea, yes. And more than words, too. A gentle, shared knowing that need not be spoken. Or cannot, for words there are not.
