Losing people we love and have been loved by sucks. Literally? Loss takes toll on measurable physical energy. For me it sucks my bone marrow. Blood suffers. Figuratively? It's A Shattering. No matter how old we grow Beloved losses fragment and crack Our breathing glass souls.

This is especially apt as we approach the anniversary of my father's death. I would like to have a year in which I don't lose any close friends or family members, but you know what they say: If you want to make God laugh, tell him your plans.
