I find myself more successful a human in owning my own actions and cleaning my own messes than the outward successes of my past, which were stuck in status-quo capitalist thinking of my life's formative environment in the USA. I've been told otherwise. Am I wrong?

You're the only person that gets to define your own success, so anyone else's opinion of it is irrelevant, no?
