The cancel culture is in high dudgeon today. All the smug virtue signalers enjoying a bloody good pile-on. It is that culture, that toxic ideology, that in my estimation deserves cancellation far more than their victims do.

I try really hard to understand all points of view. But I don't think I'll ever be able to understand how a white prominent male, unprovoked, goes on a multi-hour long bullying spree - complete with name calling - becomes the victim because people called him out on his shit.

But Josh what you just said is the problem Your ability to extend the benefit of the doubt to individuals you know have the potential to cause harm, makes you just as guilty when the ACTUAL harming happens

You give someone who has repeatedly shown himself to be toxic a platform. This makes people who are harmed by his toxicity unwelcome in the space. You are working against diversity and inclusion by placing his benign contributions to tech, like clean code, over his harmful ones.

Anyone can preach about clean code and TDD and agile and whatever else. Find new mentors that don't push oppressed people out of the industry.
