I've been a fan ever since I heard Pink Moon in a car commercial. He was Sooo gifted.

That commercial brought about all his success for the most part. He'd been gone decades. Sad he never lived to know how much he gave us all.

As mentioned, it's my favorite love song of all time for those reasons. Most of his lyrics are not depressing, but there are shadows throughout. Glad you enjoy him so.
