First bloom this year on Heirloom Roses Chihuly. It's an own-root rose. Most bare root rose bushes are grafted onto a more hardy rootstock. Some are not grafted. The roses Heirloom Roses sells are own-root.

May her memory be for a blessing. When we moved in to this house there was a row of Iceberg roses along the patio. They eventually died off. After much study we replaced them with own-root roses from heirloomroses.com/roses.html

Beautiful! My mother's rose garden was a joy to behold. She was enchanted by many variants but loved The American Beauty, a timeless classic of course.
