What's your line on affectionate gesture versus contact which can be considered weird by some? I used to hug everyone! As a child, I'd hug strangers and tell them I loved them! I'd stare for hours at people and chatter constantly, all once considered "bad" and we got spankings.

I also picked up the English habit of saying "love" and "mate" in casual conversation. Is that rude too? Ah fuck it. As a great man once wrote "I yam what I yam." (points for source!)

I think we're all "touch-starved" b/c of how cautious we are. Yes, consent is key but it's b/c of those who've taken abused "touch". I'm comfortable hugging & vice versa. The next step is being better at identifying good/kind touch from those not in our circle.
