What's your line on affectionate gesture versus contact which can be considered weird by some? I used to hug everyone! As a child, I'd hug strangers and tell them I loved them! I'd stare for hours at people and chatter constantly, all once considered "bad" and we got spankings.

I also picked up the English habit of saying "love" and "mate" in casual conversation. Is that rude too? Ah fuck it. As a great man once wrote "I yam what I yam." (points for source!)

I am also a hugger. Now, we need consent to hug. Should carry a pad of consent forms to avoid legal disputes.

A loving friendly hug is more than welcome from a friend, much less a mentor of sorts keeping me interested in color topics.

We must now ask. How do you teach that to children with unusual behavioral traits who grow up to be adults with unusual behavioral traits? LOL (serious question)

Great answer Robin. You seem to have thought a lot about it. I made one truly terrible mistake responding to someone whom I thought was a peer. I welcome hugs of kindness and comfort. Mom was not nurturing and physically distant and I craved affection and attention. Much less now
