It's not stopped in certain areas and 3 inches is not a light dusting for the Las Vegas Valley, my dear. Also, it is windy, below freezing and roads are closing due to black ice. This type of event has rarely been document! Not to mention what kind of agony it causes. Pretty tho!

By Montana standards, it is a light dusting. What I hated were whiteout blizzards. Many times I drove over the center line to make sure I was on the highway. On dirt roads I depended on fence posts as an estimate.

That may well be in the Valley, but we has mountains and this is Southern Nevada. Northern Nevada is rather cold and often snows.

There's an article here talking about black ice and what to do - and yeppers - no high beams unless absolutely needed!

No braking, no accelerating and no sudden turning. Slow is better. Worse than black ice is ice that is melting. The water makes for a great lubricant.

I had an intimate, unfortunate experience with black ice. Car, totalled. Me, nearly so. So I pay attention :)
