3 interpretations Historically, many soldiers did aim high. Many if not most humans don't want to kill anybody Or, pointing out that space aliens are the real threat, not fellow humans Or maybe just a metaphor for having worthy goals

The GIF looks like she is imitating a pump action 12 guage. Aiming high targets the upper body. It's going to be messy. My military training was slightly different. Since the targeting is normal, squat or lie down and target lower body. A wounded combatant tied up more resources.
