It is indeed a problem and it's not just the sgml routes it's the actual significance of a given element to the content meaning and vice versa. But yes the legacy is definitely from sgml. If it were XML serialization it would be a multiple programming Paradigm

That sort of thing happens a lot and when a group reclaims a word it considers fair for a certain description that can be very powerful to and counteract the misuse of it.
It looked like a nice, consistent pattern in a Twitter of chaos so I just didn't know what it meant now that I do I like it. :-) thank you for letting me in on the meaning of the acronym

I already do dream of that. Isn't it fascinating how a near-complete browser monoculture when it comes to render it has not resulted in any conceivable notion that we'd have user agent interoperability and consistency in implementations.
Again the term semantic HTML is either redundant in meaning or lacks meaning. Using section properly meaning both the element and resulting content are correlated is meaningful. Lexically semantic. But use a paragraph to contain an energy elements in line? Meaningless in HTML5.

Have you read about duck DuckDuckGo and it's new browser? It's not close to Adam development but they're starting it on Mac and then moving to Windows Android iOS Etc. Brave is adding some very interesting features as well. Incompatible engines here we come again?

I wholeheartedly agree with this entire thread just wish there were a rock solid framework that handled it otherwise all I can think of is build your own and I know that Simon could do it that's for sure.
