Oh well here I had high hopes you might have some mosh pit action. The answer you gave is actually exactly what I did. I put it down. Picking it back up is no easy task. Not for guitar. Voice and piano much easier but lose your chops on a guitar for decades? Literally painful.

That description is almost verbatim to what I've heard about the theremin which is it is not hard to actually make sounds but it's very hard to make music. That Star Trek theme was pretty catchy cuz I still have it in my head and it's been 50 years now?

Yeah, that web standards thing huh? What a drag! What were those kids thinking with their cascading and Draconian error handling and specificity algorithms? Cry Me a River for Humanity. A browser with one API? Free? Open? Interoperable? Usable? Semantic? What does that even mean?

Oh yeah Layne Staley and Jerry Cantrell nailed that as did Chris Cornell who I also loved madly. But Staley was especially gifted vocally. a lot of great vocals in Grunge music all told Eddie Vedder and Chris Cornell together was another epic meeting of voices.

That lifelong reality is not always a fixed truth. Many people find relief with age from such conditions and it's unclear why. Of course there's the other side of that which is increased problems from conditions related to age. DBT and EMDR for trauma have helped me the most fwiw

Derek I can totally see you as a drummer. Ever listen to Tool or Watch Danny Carey tourist thing I used to think Neil Peart and Bill Beaufort we're great. Danny Carey is unspeakably precise and complicated such a Force. Look for the song pneuma live if you're not familiar.

I know he practically falls off the stage and crew had to push him back up and he never missed a note what a performance! I just love the way he stepped out and put all the old rockers back into their rocking chairs! hilarious and brilliant. He was a character that one. Miss him.

Okay I have no idea what that is cake other than 8 of something but I might if you showed me a picture. Of all the weird-ass instruments the theremin attracts me. If only because I'm such a nerd I want to play the Star Trek theme.

That's getting close to abstract Improv Jazz especially because we have to be improvisational as we code. In fact I think there is a huge corollary between improvisation and innovation. Food for thought! Yummy.

Voice was always first musically as well as just verbally. I love to sing but I especially love singing with others. Strong vocalists are always welcome in my world!

I have a friend who's a very good guitar player and has helped return my guitars to splendor keeps telling me Oh just burn your fingers Molly screw trying to build calluses. He means it. I think LOL

For the grunge I'm Alice in Chains all the way Layne Staley lives in my heart forever. Broken beautiful boys every damned one. I think Eddie Vedder is very close to being the only grunge super power still alive.

Prince was masterful. Recently ran across a cover of George Harrison and the Beatles While My Guitar Gently Weeps live with Tom Petty, Steve Winwood, Jeff Lynne, Prince is quietly playing at the far side of the stage until he steps out and owns everybody in three notes. Awesome.

I love it finally somebody is talking about rap and hip hop. Jazz and metal seem to be taking main stage in this conversation. That must have been an interesting show.

It's definitely a theme. Absolutely agree it appears to me to be a form of systems design and thinking. I'm curious about the neuroscience. To create music and code both require hybrid thought. System design definitely fits right in there. Improvisational jazz is a great example!

Good for him! Lifelong learning is awesome. at 72 I expect to be studying and working as I'm doing right now but with different equipment and hopefully voice input output that actually works and doesn't make me sound illiterate. It's kind of important for a writer. 😉

Stephen Pemberton just told me the same thing. But when I joined the HTML working group I didn't get that question. I got a far funnier response entering that stuffy room of man sweat. 'Refreshing to have something other than testosterone here' to paraphrase. Truth in humor!
