What is meant by 'visual descriptors' in this context? Perspectives on best ways to describe images are very varied. :) I use inline images only to extend or as focused content. I describe an image briefly in the text. Sharp alt, strong caption. Reduce repetition, expand meaning.

Revisit to this event since it happened is so reassuring! Despite deep problems in #a11y #webdev #webdesign #UX etc, we are all evolving in our words, depth of understanding, perspectives. It's inspiring to see us grow. Also: lmao at "poochy" and pre-start banter with @mpaciello!

YES! Thank you so much Billy 馃槉 I recall we had a lot of fun and great event all around.

I agree that writing descriptive text for alt attribute values and figcaption elements is hard! There are some serious issues to consider when we do this. How much description is required, how do we keep it short, how can we avoid repetition and redundancy in the code and text 馃槉

Good question! I think there is, and I do have that presentation deck floating around somewhere. I am trying to remember what year it was. I know it kicked off a 24 hour online event. I shall find it asap and see what's what! 馃槉

I speculate interference of natural order is dangerous. We seem as a species to be nascent in understanding risks/benefits of scientific and social interventions on ourselves. I suggest focus on applied Adaptation to promote the long term long term evolution of a species. Great Q!

Hey there! What Jen Said! Check out @AltTxtReminder bot, reminding us to include HTML alt attribute text value when posting to Twitter! #a11y #html #webdev #webdesign #UX #Content

Dunno, but the entire post reads as supreme entitlement, ego, smells like megalomania and malignant narcisissism.
Awww, way to make me cry. Moved, not sad. I got your back also. Better united than divided and friendship? Bestest.

Good. Redundant in HTML. Now, was it intentional for semantics (IMO not that meaningful) and structure (well formed block, inline elements inline but the redundancy in elements AND potential alt and figcaption text troubles me) or to meet backward compat?

This is very close to hate speech. WTF? I haven't seen JF in almost 20 yrs. He was not this way in my experience of him. White collar psychopathy on the Web seems to be an epidemic.

Preach it my brother! Free and open, aim for ethical and kind. I fail every day and still won't betray my passion and belief that the Web is not for the one or the few. Free market, reasonable profit in USA, ok. But predation? At best abusive at worst, deadly.

Hehe. Many not one. That scales. ALL? I doubt it, but unproven. EXCLUSION not inclusion. Cultural divide. :(

I am nauseated at this language. SEMANTICS matter ffs. and this language? "there are too many unique perspectives, experiences, and individuals." Borders on eugenics in conveyed meaning. Ok, we cannot serve all needs. But to outright say. there are TOO MANY....INDIVIDUALS is sick

I hate this. This is not my world wide web of benefit to all whether #a11y or values or ethics or bullshit. I hate product pushers that place profit first and people maybe not at all until money. I'm upset at this Jase. What happened that changed your attitude over the years?

slippery slope there. I emotionally did this until I realized what I gave away of my identity. I married for deep abiding love not happiness, and found my happiness unintentionally became our shared life. To lose that was almost to lose life. I'd still choose same. So Worth it.
