That's interesting as it allows for own-made or group-made creation of elements, which is in turn an ontology. So I like that, and I also am concerned that it be written wisely. Specs that work for many need many to work IMO, and adapt and grow with time. :)

...Semantics is about the relation of words to reality - the way that speakers commit themselves to a shared understanding of the truth, and the way their thoughts are anchored to things and situations in the world." - Steven Pinker Canadian-American Psychologist and Linguist

Single page apps are a particularly problematic issue. From the name to the code it creates barriers. :(

Web folks in #a11y #accessibility #ableism might explore or re-explore why a #semantic #declarative approach to expressing content in #HTML #HTM5 #XML made #SystemsThinking sense. Can the #DOM co-exist for documents alongside #Javascript practices? #Inclusion not exclusion?

If you choose to believe that, sure. The religious aspects of my ethnicity would have me home with six children and subjucated to a man. Not for me. I believe people are better to challenge all bias and assumptions. "Question Everything" then choose. And iterate that process.

Semantics and justice are deeply correlated. I provided a quote on this very issue. Food for thought.
"All our work, our whole life is a matter of semantics, because words are tools with which we work to make laws. Everything depends on our understanding of words." - Felix Frankfurter Associate Justice US Supreme Court 1939 - 1962 #Semantics #Law #QOTD #quotes #SundayThoughts

I hear you with the more coffee and I'm not trying to make an argument out of the difference in our thinking I'm just challenged by the idea that I must be something because other people tell me to be that way. Beyond a basic social contract defined by law morality is subjective.

I can't fix a car to save my life. I don't have that ability. I am a part from the ability to fix a car. Does that mean I'm disabled? If we don't know we can argue it using logic. PEOPLE! It isn't about right or wrong thinking. One does not have to win. One never really wins.

I am simply stating that every human being is in some way apart from an ability. I'm not talking emotions or saying everybody's disabled that's what you're thinking not what I'm saying I am simply clarifying semantic parity.

I find it very distressing that people working in web don't understand the meaning of semantics. It just shocks the hell out of me that we've come to this state of disarray and disregard for the very principles that kept us declarative and open.

Semantics. The meaning of words. Disabled literally means apart from abled. What I don't understand is your meaning because what you said is that it erases the struggle isn't that the goal? Or do you want to keep struggling? Seriously I'm not being contentious. I'm confused.

What do you mean by semantics? Maybe I'm not tracking?

I made a semantic statement and this was the result. It erases the struggle. As if that's a bad thing? Please fix my brain because I can't parse this.
Replying to @mholzschlag
Everyone is not a little bit disabled though. That erases the struggles and barriers and obstacles that disabled people face.
