I've been focusing a lot on sustainable, scalable education and intersection with all aspects of Web, this article about "Slow Conferences" hits on my disruptive self yelling at devs, @W3C and browser makers to slow TF down. Note I did not yell "Monoculture!" (and never will).
We've been thinking a lot about the opportunity a move to online conferences presents to do things differently, and perhaps better. Here are some of our thoughts on 'slow conferences' webdirections.org/blog/slow-…

picking up - as for limited roles for any human, phooey on that! Deep, wide, high, infinite, multitudenous for All The Things opens up so much to us all if we desire to know.

That's incredibly cool and we should chat sometime about online learning. My M.A. from The New School for Social Research was the first fully accredited BBS-based (then) higher degree pre-Web. Ran off of servers at NJIT. And these kids think it's a whole new thang! As for limited

That's really interesting especially right now as I refine my goals for my Ph.D. starting in late August this year. I am looking at Sustainable Education and one area of note is the failure to evolve much less sustain a viable model for webdev in general and specialties as well.

Both and continue to both. Education, learning, knowledge and using it are the value system I was raised with and have chosen in adulthood, too. Knowledge is power - certainly a form of it.
Are you self taught or did you go to college/university? Are you happy with your choice?

Until it isn't. And so we all go. Until then, we can choose to carry on and even learn to thrive.
I'm with you. THAT would be sustainable practice. The way we've done it has not succeeded at all despite so much effort, hard work and outreach. We need to rethink a lot in this regard.

I've been thinking about this a lot. I process most emotion and information along the way, but the big stuff sometimes can take years of work, anger, trauma, depression etc. until one day I wake up and it's all just...solved!

It may be a little more selfish of me these days - not a bad thing as I forget to count myself in totals - but going out on a good note, whenever that comes, seems like a nice bookend (as it were lol)

Clarification: Are you stating they cannot? I do not believe they are separate in Web or IRL. User experience failures are access and accessibility failures. I also worry about the "sell good #UX and #a11y as an added bonus feature" which to me simply isn't integrated.

Someone asked if I'd live long enough considering I've lived longer than anyone expected much less have periods of functioning. The point is focus and contributions external to myself as otherwise I fall into "victim" mentality which is a shit place for everyone and me. Quality!

The day we know it all is the day we know all we'll ever know. Including Eminem's body of work 🤣

Slightly being relative ;-) What factors do you believe are impeding progress in #UX and #a11y ? Any ideas for repair moving forward? Eccentric ideas always welcome!

Add geolocation and a lock and that's a form of incarceration FFS.

Our social biases are illogical as are the words we use as polarizing. The root "dis" means "apart." Is there no human who is ever apart from ability of any kind even temporarily? We must stop selling #a11y as an add-on Web tech much less a social subset when it is not a subset.

I'm formulating questions. I know you have relevant information. It's called experience, observation and a desire for the best of us all - through your unique viewport.
